Going UN-VEGAN after 3 years of being vegan

Aug 2008...I think I ate my last three eggs in my fridge and then the next morning suddenly I just went vegan..It was an easy transition..given that I have been a vegetarian all my life....had a wealth of knowledge of how to make really really tasty balanced nutritous meals that were vegan...I used to however be an "egg and cheese crazy person"..In my mind  once i went vegan..I thought that I might end up  suffering from a "egg and cheese withdrawal" in the first few months...but SURPRISINGLY..right from day one..I NEVER MISSED the cheese or eggs...Was too busy experimenting with beans, tofu and making tofu at home and the works ..the discovery of incredible vegan foods that are all around us..I guess I was far too busy eating too many new tasty foods..quite forgot the eggs or cheese.
Three years down the line after much thought I hhave become NON-VEGAN..have been NON VEGAN FOR 7 WEEKS NOW..how does it feel?what was my first non vegan meal?Eggs ofcourse...I felt like I was committing a major sin right from day one..being NON VEGAN just doesn't feel NORMAL TO ME ANYMORE...I thought a thousand times before buying those boxes of eggs...I actually was so disapproving of myself....the whole time...even now...CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK TO BEING VEGAN(only a month to go for that to happen..hopefully---fingers crossed)
For some reason...though I half-expected that old ecstasy to hit my senses that i used to feel when i ate eggs PRIOR TO EVER GOING VEGAN, ...surprisingly..in the past 7 weeks of eating eggs each day..NOT ONE DAY..have I felt that great kick i used to feel when i used to eggs before I ever went vegan in the first place..Same with milk..don't enjoy it as much anymore..I crave soy milk each day..and then I drink some soy milk and then I smile..LOL..no really..
Also..I HAVE BECOME SO TUNED TO AUTOMATICALLY GO VISIT ONLY SHELVES IN THE SUPERMARKET THAT hold vegan ingredients..LIKE THE PRODUCE SECTION..I now still find myself doing the same, even after i have gone UN-VEGAN temporarily...funny how I could unlearn 30 years of my food habits of being UN-VEGAN in a day..when I first went vegan ..and yet  WHAT I LEARNED IN 3 YEARS OF BEING VEGAN..i now find difficult to unlearn.....
BTW,soy curds is much more tastier than animal milk curds..totally..soy milk much more tasty than animal milk..totally..NOTHING GREAT ABOUT EGGS..cheese is fine..but doesn't matter in terms of taste--infact in the 7 weeks..i haven't bought that much of cheese at all...(for other reasons ofcourse)
And seven weeks down the line..I CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK TO VEGAN FOOD..in the past 7 weeks I realized that i didn't miss a thing...EVEN IN THE THREE YEARS OF BEING VEGAN..NEVER MISSED VEGAN FOOD AT ALL...so yeah...
the vital question that all of you want to ask ,,is why is it that i went UN-VEGAN....in the first place?(Can't answer that yet..just yet...Will wait till i get back to being vegan for a good month and then..I shall explain it all..that way it will all look more credible)
yeah?

Oreos=vegan

Oreo cookies.
The perfectly non sweet cookie .The sugary creme in between the
cookies , not so much my favorite. But yet, oreos=the perfect
cookie=vegan
Yes, all plant ingredients!!!
Now that all ingredients are plant based, oreo essentially becomes the
vegan person's "processed food -guilty pleasure"
Yes,but given the fact that it is still processed food, makes it not so healthy.
But then, for those days, when you really want to feel like a bad girl
,who is oh so hungry , an oreo cookie is always on hand,no? But, then
an apple works better for me these days.
Three years after going vegan I have developed an aversion to
processed foods altogether.Even if I eat them just to feel that
feeling of "not being deprived of the FAST FOOD COMFORT",the taste of
them all just is not pleasing in any given way anymore. My palate has
become too sophisticated to like processed foods anymore .They taste
either too sugary or too salty or too chemically or too unfresh.A
cruncy juicy apple gives me a party in mouth.
What you eat is what you become.
P.S: oreo people haven't paid me any money to blog this entry. Moreover ,I am not really suggesting that you all eat processed foods at all.:)))

An American version of a mediterranean Lunch platter

I have been vegan for roughly two years now
Before I went vegan, I was Ovo-lacto-Vegetarian(used to eat eggs, dairy products and vegetarian food-no meat)
This Mediterranean Lunch platter dates back from back then
Greek and Mediterranean food per say does use a lot of cheeses/yogurt in its recipes. But yes, there are lot of really vegan recipes too.
This platter cost 9$.Not bad..But I could make 2 such vegan platters with 9$ now!! LOL.
I took time to print the names of the ingredients on the picture .Click on picture to see a larger view and you can read the names of what all was there on the platter
Mashed potatoes can hardly qualify as Mediterranean. But Most American restaurants will tend to Americanize every ethnic platter to suit the needs of the Average American ..Honestly, I think there is NO NEED TO AMERICANIZE anything.Anyways!!

All vegans are a smart, evolved and similar lot, Aren't they?

A couple of days ago, I went into the mood of actually looking around Vegan blog land.I went around on a reading spree of all vegan blogs that I could possibly lay my hands on in the internet.
I was on one hand really pleasantly surprised and on the other hand kinda not surprised that all of us vegans are so similar on so many levels.
Vegans are like this Evolved thinking ethical group of people.
No, I am not saying this because I am vegan and I am bound to find my own kind more appealing. This is an unbiased opinion.
Most vegan blogs  that I read were very creative. Many of us in addition to liking to cook...were also very artistic. We like photography and surprisingly many of us love knitting for some reason..Cute..
Many of us are professionals.Almost of all of us are avid researchers, who read and research a lot before coming to conclusions.
Nice to know that we are smarties club..LOL.Made me feel good and Made me feel like I am not alone.
In the past three years , I have noticed that the number of vegan blogs has quadrapuled..which makes it even more easy for people wanting to turn vegan to look up recipes and get all inspired.
Becoming vegan is even more easier these days with more and more vegan supermarkets and restaurants opening up.
I see that more and more youngsters see the health benefits of a vegan diet and are willing to try it out..Makes me very happy that our younglings are so open minded and are so willing to try it out.
anyways...big hugs to everyone who is reading this...gotta go hit the shower now.
